About Us

Matrix Explorer Scout unit Started out as Matrix Venture Scout unit which was created in 1999 when 4 existing units merged into one district Venture Scout Unit with 12 members. Matrix V.S.U. Ran a very active program including an Expedition to Switzerland. Then in 2001 the Scout Association restructured the Venture Scout section into two new sections Explorer Scout and the Scout Network. Matrix then undertook the change from a Venture Scout Unit into the Explorer Scout Unit it is today.

Over the years we have grown in size in both its membership and its Leadership Team. The Unit has tried its hands at many different things over the years, from Ice Climbing – Caving as well as most things in between.

We have been lucky enough to young people the World Scout Jamboree’s in Thailand, United Kingdom, Japan and United States of America. We also have Explorer Scouts who will be attending the Next Jamboree in South Korea.

As a Unit we have also been lucky enough to be able to send members of our Leadership Team to World Scout Jamboree’s in Chile, Japan and the United States of America.

We have also undertaken other international expeditions as well as lots of Camps and Expeditions in the United Kingdom. Matrix E.S.U. Has had an interesting journey over the last 21 years. Here’s to see what the next 20 years has in store for us.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
